At Highgroove, we focus on Back-end Ruby and Ruby on Rails Development, using an Iterative/Agile process. We have a highly capable team and a proven process for software development that ensures a successful product launch. We enjoy working with CTOs and fit nicely into organizations where software development can move at a rapid pace, with rapid feedback, and constant communication.

Job Description: Web Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop current and future web applications for Highgroove Studios and clients of Highgroove Studios
  • Author deliverables such as stories (use-cases, technical/functional requirements), tests, and code
  • Participate actively in iterative development meetings (stand-ups, kick-offs, retrospectives), and design sessions with project teams and clients
  • Collaborate with team members, consultants, designers, and clients to provide accurate estimations, timelines, and risks associated with development
  • Contribute back to the open-source community through code, documentation, and tutorials/speaking

Requirements:

  • Experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL or semi-related technologies (e.g. Python / Django / PHP / Symfony)
  • Experience in core aspects of web application development including design, development, separation of layers, configuration, performance, integration, analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, self-started, motivated, results-driven, with high-level of energy, enthusiasm, and initiative

We have an awesome work environment with:

  • Full Health Insurance, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k matching, Short and Long Term Disability
  • Unlimited Vacation and a Results Only Work Environment
  • Apple Laptop and Workstation
  • Free Breakfast/Soda/Coffee (really, really good coffee: espresso, cappuccino)
  • Free Barista Training (we're really snobby about our coffee)
  • Free Conference Admission (once per year)
  • An on-site Personal Trainer

If you were with us already, you would have:

  • Launched products that have won TechCrunch Disrupt awards
  • Gone skydiving, hanggliding, skeetshooting, (and more) as a team (if you wanted, totally optional)
  • Scaled out a 8 million document system to return queries in under 30ms across cloud platforms
  • Eaten lots of tacos (about once a week)
  • Every week: written a blog post once, attended a "Tech Demo", and code reviewed your teammates
  • Worked on a community service project "pro-bono" on behalf of a deserving charity
  • Had a one-on-one performance review, weekly one-on-ones on current work
  • Spoken directly with the client (not through some project manager who doesn't know what's going on)
  • Worked out with our on-site, on-staff personal trainer (sessions twice a week)
  • Been challenged to improve (iterate) on everything

We have a kick-ass office space, and super flexible work hours (hint: there are none). We're a Results-Only Work Environment.

Our target salary is at the 75% percentile (above average) for Atlanta Web Developers, AND we provide cooler benefits, exciting and challenging work, and foster a results-only environment. We have several internal levels for developers with Revenue Targets, and a Quarterly Team-based bonus structure.

While we've been lauded as Rockstars, Ninjas, Cowboys, Aliens -- we're looking for Professionals.  Come join our team.
